Fumiko Hoeft, MD, PhD, will speak to Bay Area parents and other adults about using an integrated approach in understanding learning differences during a special seminar on Thursday, February 26 at the Bay Area Discovery Museum.

State Lab postdoctoral scholar Vanessa Hus Bal, PhD, was named as the newest recipient of the Marquis Award by the University of Michigan’s Department of Psychiatry for her doctoral dissertation exploring the influence of non-Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) behaviors on the assessment and diagnosis of ASD in children.

Patricia Areán, PhD, has been invited by the Institute of Medicine (IOM) Forum on Neuroscience and Nervous Systems Disorders to speak at its upcoming meeting on February 24 at the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, DC.

UCSF hosted leading minds from Boston Children’s Hospital, Emory University, Harvard Medical School, MIT, Stanford University, Yale University, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and the Simons Foundation last week for a full-day seminar devoted to exploring progress in diagnostics, neuroimaging, therapeutics, genomics and neurobiology relating to autism spectrum disorders (ASD).

With the passing of Robert S. Wallerstein, MD, on December 21, 2014, a distinguished career as a psychiatrist, psychotherapy researcher, and psychoanalytic leader was brought to a close, leaving a legacy of a widened scope of theory and technique in the psychological sectors of psychiatry.
