Opened in 2022, the UCSF Nancy Friend Pritzker Psychiatry Building is a one-of-a-kind treatment center that aims to redefine mental health services and make a bold statement against stigma. Situated adjacent to UCSF’s Mission Bay campus in San Francisco's Dogpatch neighborhood, the Pritzker Building is one of the few in the nation that combines outpatient mental health care for people of all ages with top-ranking programs in psychiatry and psychology training. It includes a center for pediatric, adolescent, and family health care, and promotes collaborative research across psychiatry, psychology, neurology, neurosurgery, radiology, pediatrics, anesthesiology, and obstetrics/gynecology – all under one roof.
The building was made possible by a gift of nearly $60 million from philanthropists John Pritzker and Lisa Pritzker, longtime supporters of UCSF. It is named in honor of John’s sister, Nancy Friend Pritzker, who died by suicide at age 24 during a depressive episode in 1972.
The five-story, 150,000-square-foot facility includes the UCSF Child, Teen and Family Center, with its own child-friendly entrance, a rooftop garden accessible to patients and staff, museum-quality art by celebrated photographer Richard Misrach alongside a community-based youth art program, a therapeutic kitchen for families of patients with eating disorders, and a gym to evaluate children with neurodevelopmental disorders. It also hosts a sleep clinic, neuroimaging suite, auditorium and conference center, educational spaces, and the administrative offices of the UCSF Department of Psychiatry Behavioral Sciences.

Public transportation
The Pritzker Building is served directly by the SF Muni T-Third Street light rail line, as well as nearby stops for the 15-Bayview Hunters Point Express, 22-Fillmore, 48-Quintara/24th Street, and 55-Dogpatch bus lines.
If you are visiting from outside San Francisco, you can use Caltrain, BART, AC Transit, Golden Gate Transit, or San Francisco Bay Ferry for quick and convenient connections to the SF Muni system. For schedules and a trip planner, visit www.sfmta.com/muni.
UCSF Tan shuttle
Patients and visitors can utilize the UCSF Tan shuttle line, which operates between the Pritzker Building and Weill Institute Building on the Mission Bay campus. It operates on weekdays (Monday–Friday) during the following times:
- 6:30–9:15 a.m.
- 3:15–6:00 p.m.

Parking
Valet parking is available in the Pritzker Building garage for patients and visitors at the rate of $5 per hour (or $35 maximum per day). Visitors can enter the garage on 3rd Street between 18th and 19th Streets on weekdays between 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. To exit the garage after hours, visitors can retreive keys/vehicles from the security desk on the first floor.
Patients and visitors can also park in the UCSF Illinois Street Garage, located just one block from the Pritzker Building. Additional UCSF garages are also available on the Mission Bay campus.
Metered street parking is available on a limited basis in the surrounding neighborhood. Please be sure to observe and obey all posted time limits.
