The UCSF Department of Psychiatry Residency Training Program (RTP) is among the top ten psychiatry residency programs in the nation, according to a report released Wednesday by physician social networking site Doximity, in collaboration with U.S. News & World Report.
In the first-ever comprehensive national peer evaluation of residency programs, more than 17,000 board-certified physicians responded to a survey asking them to nominate up to five residency programs offering the best clinical training in their medical specialty. Ninety specialists and eight program directors nominated RTP, placing it sixth among all psychiatry residency programs in the United States.
As a whole, UCSF emerged as one of the national leaders in medical education, with 16 specialty residencies earning Top 10 rankings and three being selected as the best in their respective fields. The full results of the study are available for any U.S. physician or medical student to access through Doximity’s free interactive “Residency Navigator” tool, which launched Wednesday.
