The Kaiser Award is the latest in a string of teaching honors for Nye, including the department’s Alexander Simon Award, the UCSF Haile T. Debas Academy of Medical Educators’ Excellence in Teaching Award, and a pair of teaching awards bestowed by Psychiatry PGY-1 residents.
The Kaiser Award for Excellence in Teaching was started in 1969 with funds provided by the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation. Any faculty member who teaches medical students or residents is eligible for nomination. In addition to Nye, nominees this year from UCSF Psychiatry included Kavoos G. Bassiri, CGP; David Jull-Patterson, MD; Dean Sasaki, MD; and John Straznickas, MD.
