Part-Time Assistant Professional Researcher - Brain Imaging and EEG Lab

The Department of Psychiatry Brain Imaging and EEG Laboratory is seeking a part-time Assistant Professional Researcher to design and execute clinical research experiments involving EEG recordings of schizophrenia patients. The candidate will be expected to independently process, analyze, and prepare data for presentation and/or publication. As part of this position, the candidate will also manage a small team of researchers, attend national meetings to present novel research results, maintain current and foster new collaborations with investigators within UCSF and at other institutions, prepare manuscripts describing results, and apply for new grants.

Essential functions include: contributing to design and execution of research protocol; review, conduct, and monitor fMRI and EEG data acquisition; perform data analysis and prepare data for publication including manuscript writing; prepare data for poster and slide presentations, conduct clinical assessment interviews of patients; learn experimental techniques as needed; perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Required qualifications

The candidate must have a PhD in clinical psychology or a related field and must have an exceptionally strong record of research accomplishment during postdoctoral studies with a focus on brain abnormalities in schizophrenia. The candidate must also have a proven track record of obtaining competitive funding through fellowships or grants to support their prior research endeavors. Completion of 3+ years of postdoctoral training is required, and the candidate must have 6+ years of experience with EEG recording, analysis tools and technical hardware/software experience as well as 3+ years of experience in training and supervising researchers in a laboratory setting. Applicants must possess the required qualifications by the start date.
