The Department of Psychiatry will be welcoming three new faculty members this week. All three individuals have appointments beginning Wednesday, October 1.

Andrew Goddard, MD, will serve as a Professor and Psychiatry Program Chief for the UCSF Fresno Medical Education Program. Goddard received his MD from the University of Melbourne, completed a fellowship at Yale University, and has been engaged in the study and care of patients with anxiety and stress-related disorders for over 20 years. He was most recently a faculty member at Indiana University, where he also served as director of the Adult Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic and Study Center and director of the IU Anxiety Clinic at Indiana University Hospital.

Alvin Lau, MD, is joining the department as an HS Assistant Clinical Professor and Psychiatry Consultation-Liaison Service Attending. Lau completed his MD and a joint residency in psychiatry and family medicine at UC Davis. He is a member of both the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and the American Board of Family Medicine, and for the past three years has served as the medical director for mental health primary care and total wellness programs in San Mateo County.

Karuna Subramaniam, PhD, is a neuroscientist and new Assistant Adjunct Professor. She received her PhD in Neuroscience from Northwestern University and most recently completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Vinogradov Lab working on the Cognitive Remediation in Schizophrenia project. She has received an NIMH K01 Mentored Research Scientist Development Award (see below) and will continue to be mentored by Sophia Vinogradov, MD, and Radiology’s Srikantan Nagarajan, PhD.
