Marie Caffey as Associate Chair for Administration and Finance

Dear Colleagues and Friends,
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Marie Caffey as Associate Chair for Administration and Finance in the Department of Psychiatry, effective immediately. This represents a title change from Director of Administration and does not entail a change in position responsibilities. The title is consistent with what other large departments at UCSF School of Medicine are doing (such as Medicine and Pediatrics) and what is found in large academic departments at other medical schools. The title also acknowledges the level of responsibilities and close working relationship with the Chair.

During the past 14 years in her current position, Marie has made enormous contributions to our Department and to the University, garnering one of the highest honors with the Chancellor’s Award for Exceptional University Management. The Associate Chair for Administration and Finance role is an absolutely essential component of our successful strategic planning, resource management, and operations. Both personally and professionally, Marie provides invaluable support to me, offering judicious counsel, leadership, innovation, inspiration, and the utmost dedication to our entire Department. I and the Leadership Council wholeheartedly endorse this title change.
