Depression Specialty Clinic

The majority of new patients referred to the Adult Psychiatry Clinic are first seen for an evaluation appointment within the Depression Specialty Clinic.  At this 90 minute appointment, patients are interviewed by a third-year psychiatry resident and a faculty member together. UCSF medical students may also participate in the interview.  Several evaluation slots are scheduled every week and range from general slots to appointments focused on geriatrics, women’s mental health issues, depression, anxiety disorders, adult attention deficit disorder, chronic medical conditions, and bipolar disorder. After the interview, the evaluating clinicians review available treatment options and provide recommendations to the patient.  If ongoing treatment is recommended, it may be with a different Langley Porter clinician or a referral may be made for treatment outside of Langley Porter in order to best meet a patient’s needs.
