Biography Summary:

Dr. Maguen is involved with both the clinical and research components of the PTSD program at the San Francisco VA Medical Center (see below for areas of expertise). She also is involved in PTSD training/teaching and provides supervision to psychology externs, interns, postdoctoral fellows, and psychiatry residents.

Clinical Expertise:

Dr. Maguen specializes in evidence-based cognitive behavioral therapies (CBT), including Prolonged Exposure (PE) Therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD.

Educational Expertise:

PTSD evaluation/assessment, evidence based CBT for PTSD, PE therapy, CPT, skill-based group therapy (e.g., stress management) for patients with PTSD 

Research Areas:

Dr. Maguen's research interests fall under the umbrella of PTSD and include risk and resilience factors in veterans, the psychological impact of taking a life in war, complicated grief, and coping with the ongoing threat of terrorism in countries such as Israel.
