Basic Neuroscientists

The Department of Psychiatry at UCSF invites applications for up to three faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level, for candidates with established skill in basic science research relevant to neuropsychiatric disease, broadly defined, including but not limited to molecular, cellular, systems, developmental and behavioral neuroscience, genetics, imaging or other advanced technologies. MD’s, MD/PhD’s with postdoctoral research training, and PhD’s with a demonstrated commitment to understanding the basic underpinnings of neuropsychiatric illness will all be considered. Successful candidates will be expected to develop an innovative, competitive research program based at UCSF’s Mission Bay campus, and will participate in teaching, supervision or support of educational programs for medical students, residents, psychology interns, postdoctoral fellows, or graduate students in a variety of disciplines. Review of applications will be ongoing; however, the search committee will begin reviewing applications immediately. A joint appointment in the UCSF PIBS-Neuroscience Program will be offered if appropriate.

UCSF is a collegial, collaborative environment and emphasizes research that has had and is having a significant impact on the field; the candidate’s application should therefore include not only a list of research accomplishments but a clear statement of why the candidate thinks their research is important, why there has been an impact, and what the future impact will be.

Please apply online at (Note: This position is continuously open and applications are accepted on a rolling basis.)

UCSF seeks candidates whose experience, teaching, research, or community service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and excellence. UCSF is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
